Hands-on training, three times a year
Immersive Sound Academy
A one-day, hands-on programme in acoustics fundamentals, software-defined system design and immersive audio, taught on EDC loudspeakers and the Pro and Rapid apps, hosted at a different location each time.

The Immersive Sound Academy is a hands-on educational programme hosted three times a year by EDC Acoustics, designed to give participants the knowledge and skills to use EDC’s apps and loudspeakers well. Through in-depth sessions, attendees learn to create immersive soundscapes and push the boundaries of acoustic design. Each academy takes place in a different location.
Curriculum
1. The science of sound — understanding acoustic environments
Fundamentals of acoustics: sound waves, energy dispersion and room reflections. Challenges in traditional systems — comb filtering, dead spots. How shaping energy differs from steering it. Hands-on: demonstrations of how Plane Array loudspeakers solve common problems.
2. Software-defined audio — the future of adaptable systems
EDC’s speaker platform and its capabilities. Real-world applications from corporate rooms to performance venues. The role of user-controlled interfaces in sound management. Hands-on: attendees adapt sound profiles in a demo space with the EDC interface.
3. Designing immersive audio experiences
What makes sound “immersive”: stereo imaging and spatial awareness. Designing immersive environments for theatres, houses of worship and more. Examples of immersive projects powered by EDC. Hands-on: a workshop designing a system for a specific environment, simulated and refined on EDC’s platform.
