EDC Acoustics is built on engineering depth, scientific rigour and sustained technical development. Our technologies are not the result of isolated ideas or short-term experimentation. They are the outcome of decades of applied research, real-world deployment and continuous refinement. The team combines expertise in acoustics, signal processing, electro-acoustic design and spatial audio, and that foundation lets us deliver sound-control technologies that perform reliably — not just impress initially.

Engineering-led by design

EDC is led by engineers and technologists with deep technical backgrounds and extensive industry experience. Leadership is directly involved in research, system architecture and technology development. Design decisions are driven by physics, predictability and real-world performance, not trends, so that new technologies are not only innovative but deployable, supportable and scalable.

Research with consequences

EDC research is focused on practical outcomes in real environments. Technologies are developed through modelling, simulation, controlled testing and iterative validation, and system behaviour is evaluated against real spaces rather than idealised conditions. This discipline ensures that performance observed in development translates reliably to performance in deployment. Predictability is a design requirement.

Original technology

EDC technologies are protected by patents and proprietary algorithms developed in-house. They represent fundamentally different approaches to controlling sound behaviour, not incremental enhancements of conventional loudspeaker designs — which is why EDC technologies are licensed by other manufacturers and integrated into platforms beyond our own products. Licensing requires confidence; confidence is earned through performance.

Tom Janetzke

Chief Executive Officer

Tom Janetzke brings more than 25 years of experience in professional audiovisual systems, live production and technology leadership. His background includes senior leadership roles overseeing the design and delivery of complex AV systems across corporate, broadcast, worship and large-scale live environments.

Under Tom’s leadership, EDC has evolved from advanced DSP and amplification platforms into a company recognised for pioneering spatial audio and precision loudspeaker technologies.

Dan Janetzke

Chief Operating Officer

Dan Janetzke brings over 25 years of experience across broadcast engineering, post-production and systems integration. As COO, Dan oversees operational execution, system deployment and technical delivery across EDC projects.

His background in designing and integrating complex broadcast and production facilities ensures that EDC technologies are implemented reliably and perform as intended in real-world environments.

David Curtinsmith

Lead Scientist & Principal Engineer

David Curtinsmith is Lead Scientist and Principal Engineer at EDC Acoustics, with more than 25 years of experience in electro-acoustic design, electronic circuit development and algorithm design.

He is the creator of Volumetric Wavefield Synthesis and the advanced beamforming algorithms that underpin EDC’s core technologies, and the inventor of the Quadoid and Octoid three-dimensional polar radiation patterns, which enable precise broadband control of sound directivity. His work is documented in multiple patents covering customised sound distributions and controlled acoustic wavefront generation. These innovations form the technical foundation of EDC’s focused-precision approach.
