Mastercard Global Office

A large, highly reverberant headquarters space with multiple modes of use. SQ-90, SS-3 and SC-60SL cabinets achieved a speech transmission index above 0.85 in a room with an RT60 over six seconds.

Mastercard, New York, USA

With over 33,000 employees worldwide, Mastercard’s New York headquarters hosts everything from company-wide events to small presentations in front of a video wall. The large space was proving acoustically challenging: high reverberation, low intelligibility, and several modes of use that a fixed system could not serve.

Brief

A multi-use solution covering multiple audience shapes depending on the mode — full space for events, a small group in front of the video wall for presentations.

Solution

Eight SQ-90s, two SS-3 subwoofers and eight slim SL-60 columns, with beam presets for each mode. Coverage is placed on the audience for each configuration and kept off the surfaces that made the room ring.

Outcome

EDC measured a speech transmission index above 0.85 in a room with a reverberation time of more than six seconds. The client can now switch between intimate, close-sounding presentations and full-room events. Measurement positions, method and the pre-installation baseline are being added to this study.

Outcome

  • Speech transmission index above 0.85 in a room with RT60 over 6 seconds (EDC measurement)
  • Even coverage across full-space events and small presentations at the video wall
  • "What once sounded like a large reverberant space is now identical to listening in a lounge room"
“I would not have believed the STI performance if proved in advance.”

Hear what happens when nothing else interferes.

An EDC session is a technical evaluation of sound behaviour, not a sales demonstration. See reflections reduced, coverage stabilised and spatial accuracy preserved — modelled first, then measured.
